7-8 Coffee Shop

The name 7-8 Coffee Shop is a bit deceiving, as they not only serve drinks but a wide variety of meals as well. It was my first time visiting this busy little restaurant for dinner. The whole restaurant was full of diners, but we were lucky enough to get a table. We were given a piece of paper (the menu) and a pen. You order by placing a tick or number next to the item you want on the piece of paper with the menu on it, then once you are ready, take it to the counter and pay. The waitress will then give you a number sign to take back to the table. The drinks menu was huge, with many different types of tea (both hot and cold), bubble/milk tea, coffee and frappes. It was a cold night, so I wanted to drink hot tea. I ordered a flower tea and my two friends ordered a genmaicha (Japanese roasted rice green tea) and a drink with ice cream (don't remember the exact name of it). Itoshin

Itoshin has got to be one of my favourite restaurants on the Gold Coast, serving the freshest sashimi and sushi, as well as shabu shabu, sukiyaki, nabe and also various a la carte dishes. I have been a regular customer of Itoshin and everytime the food and service is always consistent. For some, the price might be on the expensive side, but you get high quality and fresh food, so it's well worth it. Last night I visited Itoshin for dinner with some friends. It was a last minute thing, so I quickly called to make a booking to avoid disappointment. Luckily, they had a table for the 7 of us! I decided to order a Set Dinner (with the dinner sets, it costs $46 and you can choose your own entree, main and dessert from the choices on the menu; it also includes a small bowl of rice, miso soup and salad) For entree, I ordered the sashimi. Pappa Roti - Surfers Paradise

I have heard and read so much about Pappa Roti, that when I saw a store in Surfers Paradise one day by accident, I had to buy one to try! The bun cost $2.50, which I thought was a bit on the expensive side, considering it wasn't that big and didn't have any meat in it. Buns at Breadtop cost about the same too, but most buns this price have some sort of meat in it or is a larger size. The bun was warm and crispy on the outside. I could smell the coffee flavour of the crust and just couldn't wait to take the first bite! The outside layer was absolutely delicious! The bun was soft with melted butter inside, creating a good contrast with the sweetness of the outside crust. I was very happy with this first experience of trying a Pappa Roti bun! Definitely not over rated! But you must eat this while it's still hot/warm and fresh out of the oven! If you buy it and take it home, make sure you reheat it in a mini toaster oven or an oven to get the best results! ...
