Hazel Tea Shop

The very first Hazel Tea Shop is located in the RSL Building in Surfers Paradise. Hazel Tea Shop has been around for many many years, previously only serving bubble tea/milk tea and has now moved on to serve sweet soup desserts and rice/noodles and snacks.

Their drink menu is extensive, serving different flavours of tea, both hot and cold, with or without milk. There are also yoghurt based drinks, which is one of my favourites. You can even choose the sugar level of your milk tea (no sugar, 1/3, 1/2, full).

Hazel Tea Shop has since opened other stores in Sunnybank and Brisbane and will soon be opening a store in Sydney too! (I think!)

I have been to Hazel Tea Shop (Surfers Paradise stores) several times, for both their drinks, lunch and dinner.

At the RSL store, I really enjoy the Beef Noodle. The soup is sweet and the noodles are smooth! Only problem is, it's too small in my opinion! (The size is OK for lunch, for a girl.... but guys would probably need 2-3 bowls!) - $12.50 (if it hasn't increased in price)

Beef Noodle
Green Apple Yoghurt, Strawberry Lagoon
Fried Rice ($6)
Three Cup Chicken with Rice - $12.50
There are also mini one person hot pots for $12.50! These are good for dinner, especially during winter. And for the price of only $12.50, it's really good value! You get a mini pot, with your choice of soup (clear broth, miso or spicy) and a plate of meat, vegetables and fish balls etc. The meal comes with a bowl of rice and some satay dipping sauce. You cook the meat and vegetables in the hot soup!

Pork Mini Hot Pot
Pork Mini Hot Pot (again!)
Beef Mini Hot Pot
There's no table service at Hazel, so you have to order and pay at the counter. There is a computer screen at the counter which shows you your order. Make sure you look at this and check that it's correct, as most staff in the Hazel stores don't speak fluent English.

Hazel Tea Shop, predominately sells milk tea/tea, so of course the food served is simple and quick to make. There are also snacks like fried tofu, bean curd and thick toast on the menu. I usually order the hot pot or the beef noodle. The other rice dishes usually comes with a type of meat and some 'vegetables' (which you can tell are the diced up frozen kind, from the supermarket freezer), so I tend to avoid those. But the noodles/hotpot and tea are all yummy and I would definitely go back for these!!
