Ichiban Boshi

Ichiban Boshi is a Japanese eatery located in Southport, which specialises in Ramen! I have been there many times before for lunch and dinner. I suggest that you don't visit on hot summer days as there is no air-con (but even if there was, you wouldn't be able to feel it, because the doors are wide open and you'll probably be eating a hot steaming bowl of ramen!)

Anyway, I visit Ichiban Boshi for their tasty ramen in huge portions! Each bowl of ramen is enormous (I can never finish it!) But of course, for the guys, it is just right (or for the big eaters, you can order an extra 'don', which is meat on rice, or some gyozas)

Ichicban Boshi is a cash only restaurant, where you order and pay at the counter, take a number and find your own seat/table. There is self serve water located next to the counter as well. The menu is illustrated with pictures of all the ramen and rice dishes, located on the wall next to the counter where you order. If there is a long line of people ordering, it is difficult to look at the menu.

Here are a few items that I've tried from Ichiban Boshi.

Butter Corn Ramen

Agedashi Tofu Ramen

Set: Udon, Katsudon & Salad

Miso Ramen
Yakisoba

Tokyo Ramen
There are many different flavoured ramens to choose from and all of them taste very nice! The broth is the most important part of the dish. Of course, the char-siu (which is the thinly sliced fatty pork) needs to be cooked to perfect and melt in your mouth! Ichiban Boshi does really good char-siu! But there's only one slice of the pork in each ramen, which I think is too little!
