Itoshin has got to be one of my favourite restaurants on the Gold Coast, serving the freshest sashimi and sushi, as well as shabu shabu, sukiyaki, nabe and also various a la carte dishes.
I have been a regular customer of Itoshin and everytime the food and service is always consistent. For some, the price might be on the expensive side, but you get high quality and fresh food, so it's well worth it.
Last night I visited Itoshin for dinner with some friends. It was a last minute thing, so I quickly called to make a booking to avoid disappointment. Luckily, they had a table for the 7 of us!
I decided to order a Set Dinner (with the dinner sets, it costs $46 and you can choose your own entree, main and dessert from the choices on the menu; it also includes a small bowl of rice, miso soup and salad)
For entree, I ordered the sashimi. The sashimi was cold, fresh and tasty! There was 13 pieces, consisting of scallop, salmon, salmon belly, kingfish, tuna and tuna belly (toro). Thinly sliced cucumber, raddish shreds and wakame was used as decoration.
For main, I got the Teriyaki Scallops with tempura vegetables. There were 8 plump and juicy scallops, seared and drizzled with teriyaki sauce. Delicious! The vegetables were lightly battered and fried to perfection! Not oily and very crunchy! I wish there were more!
My friends ordered a large sushi and sashimi platter ($80), teriyaki beef ($28), yakitori ($15) and udon nabe set (Udon hot pot!) ($46x2) - with the Udon Nabe set, they also ordered sashimi for entree.
And finally, black sesame ice cream! (the dessert that was included with my set dinner!). At Itoshin, they make their own green tea and black sesame ice cream. This was extra yummy! Other dessert choices were: cream caramel & vanilla ice cream, chocolate mouse & vanilla ice cream, affogato & tempura ice cream.
The restaurant gets busy on Friday and Saturday nights, so it's always a good idea to make a booking before going!
